The MontPhoto Archive was created to preserve, process, describe and disseminate a growing photographic heritage focused on international nature photography.
The initial idea is to preserve the environmental and creative graphic memory of professional photographers, photojournalists, publishers and amateurs.
Photographs are documents that record events, species, spaces and happenings, becoming visual witnesses of a specific time. This helps reconstruct history and pass on collective memory to future generations.
The MontPhoto Collection consists of over 2,500 photographs by some of the world’s leading nature photographers.
The works in this Collection are the finalists from all editions of the MontPhoto Contest.
The archive preserves the rights as established during the contest, and the images may only be reproduced in books, catalogues, posters or any other medium, and may be distributed to newspapers and magazines, maintaining MontPhoto’s visibility.
Since its creation, the association’s goals have been to promote and highlight photographic art as a transformative tool for society on environmental and social issues.
To safeguard historical, cultural and artistic resources related to photography and natural heritage as a whole.
To encourage activities that directly contribute to artistic and cultural creation as means to improve personal growth, solidarity, and collective coexistence with the environment.
In this context, and as a complement to the many tasks already carried out, the archive is created with a clear vocation of public interest.
